Degree in Leadership (ThM)

Core Leadership Courses (24 Credits): ORGL 500 Organizational Leadership, ORGL 501 Methods of Organizational Research, ORG 502 Leadership & Imagination, ORGL 503 Organizational Theories, ORGL 506 Leadership & Diversity, ORGL 680 Leadership Seminar. After these core courses candidates can major either in organizational Leadership or in Church Leadership.

Degree in African Studies (ThB)

A typical Bachelor of Arts in African Studies program offers students, standard general education classes, along with general electives in history, religion, politics, literature, and economics. Core courses for this program may include the following: Pre-colonial African history, Harlem renaissance studies, African art history, African American literature, Caribbean literature, African archeology, African Philosophy, African Theology, Music, Dance, Literature, Graduates of a bachelor’s degree program in African studies may find entry-level work with civil rights organizations, government agencies, political action groups, social services agencies, and public relations firms. Positions within organizations such as these may include the following:

  • Marketing executives
  • Public relations assistants
  • Community organizers
  • Public interest advocates
  • Social workers

Master’s degree programs in African studies allow students to gain firsthand experience in teaching and research. Class work is geared toward helping candidates develop and present a master’s thesis, and may include core classes such as:

  • African contemporary issues
  • African language studies
  • Urban and rural development
  • Public health issues

Holders of a Master of Arts in African Studies may find that their employment opportunities are greater than at the baccalaureate level. Positions may be available at hospitals, law firms and museums in such titles are:
